KUWAIT CITY, May 5: Al-Sulaibikhat has appointed Kuwaiti coach Hussein Habib as head coach of its handball team for the upcoming season, according to handball director Hussein Siwan.
Siwan thanked former coach Walid Al-Salameen for his contributions during his time with the team, wishing him success in his next chapter.
Looking ahead, Siwan said the club is preparing for a new phase, with plans to reinforce the squad through a mix of local and professional signings. He noted that Habib has been granted full authority to select the players he believes will best fit his vision.
He stressed that the club’s management is committed to providing the necessary environment and support for the new coaching staff, aiming to achieve results that match the ambitions of both the club and its supporters. He added that the next stage will require greater effort and unity from all members of the team.
Siwan explained that Habib was chosen after a careful evaluation of several candidates, citing his technical expertise, strong understanding of local talent, and proven ability to build competitive teams.
The club is currently working to strengthen key positions in coordination with the coaching staff to ensure balance and cohesion within the squad.
Habib is no stranger to Al-Sulaibikhat, having previously coached the team during the 2022–2023 season. His coaching résumé also includes stints with Al-Arabi, Al-Fahaheel, Burgan, and Al-Salmiya.
