KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have taken into custody an unidentified caretaker of a residential building for faking a theft case and attempted to steal KD 1,600 collected as rent from tenants from one of the buildings in Hawalli, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added, the arrest came after the suspect claimed he was beaten by two unknown men and informed his sponsor (the owner of the building). After the case was filed, police in the course of interrogations, discovered the injuries were self-inflicted. The detectives said the man had fabricated the story to steal the money.
