Gulf Conference on Healthcare Quality and Safety to kick off with broad GCC participation

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 10: The Gulf Conference for Quality and Safety of Medicines, Devices, and Medical Care is set to commence under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, and organized by the Ministry of Medical Drug Registration and Control Department. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Feb 11, at the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait, featuring broad participation from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The conference will witness the attendance of key figures such as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Health Sector, the Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Primary Care in Saudi Arabia, and representatives from the Qatari Ministry of Health, alongside various authorities from Kuwait and other GCC nations.

Pete Swift, President of the Federation of American Chambers of Commerce, will also partake in the conference, which is strategically partnered with the American and German Business Councils. The two-day event will focus on discussing the quality of medicine in Kuwait and Gulf markets, as well as strategies to develop the medicine and device industry, combat fraud, and enhance regulatory standards.

The inaugural session aims to underscore the significance of governance in legislative, regulatory, and supervisory frameworks to ensure the safety and security of medicine, medical devices, and medical care. Additionally, it seeks to promote collaboration between government and private sectors, establish a platform for sharing successful experiences, and foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the field.

Chaired by Dr. Mai Bu Shaybah, Director of the Drug Registration and Control Department, and Dr. Donia Bastaki, Head of the Drug Registration Department, the conference is anticipated to pave the way for significant advancements in healthcare standards and cooperation within the Gulf and Arab regions.
