Guilty Verdict Lands Fashionista in Hard Labor for 3 Years

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The Misdemeanor Court yesterday sentenced a fashionista to three years imprisonment with hard labor and suspended her driver’s license for a period of one year in the case of a traffic accident that resulted in the death of two people, and referred the civil lawsuit to the concerned department. The accused was charged with:
1. Crossing the red traffic signal, in accordance with article 33 (bis) of law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976.
2. Exceeding the permitted speed limit set in Article 1/33 (bis) of Law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976.
3. Driving a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, in accordance with Article 38 of Law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976.
4. Causing an accident that damaged private and public properties, in accordance with Article 1/3.4 of Law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976 and in line with Article 122 of the executive regulations.
5. Committing manslaughter, based on Article 154 of the Penal Code.
6. Causing unintentional injury, based on Article 164 of the Penal Code.
7. Driving a vehicle with an expired insurance policy, in accordance with Article 14/35 of Law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976.
8. Driving a vehicle without carrying a driving license, in accordance with Article 4/36 of Law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976.
9. Driving a vehicle that has no road license, in accordance with Article 4/36 of Law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976.
10. Driving a vehicle recklessly and negligently, in accordance with Article 2/33 of Law No. 52/2001 amending some provisions of Decree Law No. 67/1976.

According to the case file, the tragic traffic accident occurred at dawn on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at exactly 3:17 am at the intersection of Soor Street and King Fahad bin Abdulaziz Road, which resulted in the death of two people and injuries to two others. They were transported to the nearest hospital and are still receiving treatment. The accident was filed under Case No. 2023/86 misdemeanor traffic at the Abdullah Al-Salem Police Station.
