KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: The Head of Kuwait’s Government Grievances Committee for Citizenship, Counselor Ali Al-Dhubaibi, on Thursday reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to examining each complaint regarding citizenship withdrawal individually and preparing the necessary recommendations before submission to the Cabinet.
Al-Dhubaibi said in a tweet posted on the official account of the Center for Government Communication that the committee held its regular meeting, during which each grievance submitted electronically was considered separately and confidentially.
“The committee submits proposals in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and standing resolutions,” he added.
He explained that the committee’s work is not limited to weekly meetings. A dedicated secretariat follows up on all complaints submitted throughout the week, manages the data, and conducts legal studies as a prelude to referring the cases to the committee for voting.
Al-Dhubaibi stressed that the committee receives grievances around the clock, seven days a week, including official holidays.
He also said that individuals whose citizenship was revoked or who obtained it under Article 8 of the Nationality Law Decree must, before August 31, provide proof of restoration of their original nationality and obtain a passport from the relevant state to continue enjoying the benefits approved by the Cabinet.
“If they have completed the procedures but have not received a passport, they must at least provide evidence that they seriously sought to obtain it,” he said, adding that the committee will continue to study the complaint and prepare the necessary recommendations.
