Grid tune-up to trigger blackouts

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: Official spokesperson of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Eng. Fatima Hayat said the ministry shall start the routine maintenance of electrical networks on Thursday. In a press statement, Hayat disclosed that the routine maintenance shall cover components of the transmission and distribution networks, main substations, overhead lines, underground cables and secondary substations. She stated this is part of the annual plan of the ministry to improve the electrical system to be ready for the summer season and limit power unexpected outages. She added that some maintenance works might require temporary power shutdown in certain areas, which will be in accordance with the schedule published in the official social media platforms of the ministry. She affirmed that the ministry will inform the affected customers through the Sahel application based on their data registered in the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) and it will provide a link on its official social media channels to monitor the maintenance status and progress from start to finish.
