KUWAIT CITY, Dec 1: Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka Kuwait Chapter concluded its annual cricket tournament on Nov 18 at Mishref Ground. This tournament, a oneday event consisted of limited over matches with 7 overs in each inning and was participated by four teams, namely Green Gators captained by Milhan Wahideen, Yellow Eagles by Prabu Kanapathy, Red Dragons by Sanuja Karunarathna and Blue Raptors by Mohamed Rilwan who are members of the Chapter. Green Gators roared to beat Red Dragons at the final with Thariq’s explosive batting securing his best batsman title in the tournament, he entered in as an opener and pushed the team to victory.

The best bowler title went to Samantha Weerasekara of Yellow Eagles who collected three wickets in same over. Sanuja Karunarathna who led Red Dragons to the runners up was awarded the man of the tournament for his consistent performance in technical batting, bowling and fielding. 2nd runners up went to Yellow Eagles in the runners up battle with Blue Raptors. The final award ceremony was graced by His Excellency the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Kuwait, Mohammed Jauhar and Minister / Head of Chancery Abdul Haleem together with the President of the Chapter Dimuthu Ethugala, the most senior member of the Chapter Aslam Hameed and inaugural President of the Chapter Sajad Cader.

The tournament was umpired by Sunil John David from India with support of leg umpire Arshad Hussain Marikkar while the score board was monitored and moderated by member Asoka Rupasighe along with the assistance of Dishani Malliyawadu. “This year tournament was blessed by the wonderful weather in Kuwait and almost all members including family members participated in the event. I thank the HE and his staff for being with us, also thank the organizing committee with special thanks to the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Vice President Riyaz Jamaldeen” said the President.

The event was a success thanks to the specific roles played by the Executive Committee of CA Sri Lanka Kuwait Chapter which consists of General Secretary Dishani Malliyawadu, Treasurer Mohamed Murshid and Committee members Mohammed Baseer, Pasindu Karunathilaka and Sajith Udayanga. CA Sri Lanka Kuwait Chapter is an affiliated extension of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka through the patronage of Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait and the Chapter has 65 members working in Kuwait.
