Grand Mosque resumes receiving worshipers

KUWAIT CITY, March 11: Director of the State Grand Mosque Administration Ali Shaddad has confirmed the resumption of receiving worshipers during Qiyam prayer throughout the Ramadan nights after the three-year suspension due to renovation and maintenance works,” reports Al-Qabas daily. In a statement to the daily, Shaddad revealed the mosque’s facilities have been completed and it is now ready to receive approximately 45,000 worshipers.

He said 21 government agencies will coordinate their efforts in organizing the entry and exit of worshipers, in addition to providing them with various services and removing obstacles. He revealed that nine reciters are in charge of Qiyam prayers, indicating seven Kuwaiti reciters were appointed this year. He said a team was formed for the televised broadcast of the prayers. He added Taraweeh prayers will be held in the premises of the Grand Mosque; which could accommodate about 8,000 worshippers.
