KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: Goa Maroons joined Kuwait Goan Association as table toppers by beating Skynet Miracles SC 2-0, while Don Bosco Oratory easily beat United Goans Centre 3-1 to remain unbeaten this season. In other matches, Curtorcares United handed DHL FC their first defeat, winning 2-1, while Santos United were once again unlucky going down to Indian Strikers 2-3 in a edge of the seat thriller in the J. P. D’Mello Rolling Trophy, KIFF League organized by Kuwait Indian Football Federation and powered by Gulf Cable & Electricals Co. All the matches were played at Al Bayan Ground on Oct 7, 2016.

In the first match, Don Bosco Oratory banking on two fine goals by their hard working striker Agnelo Quadros and one by ever reliable Loyed Mascarenhas kept control of the game, although Irshad Lisman did give United Goans Centre a ray of hope by pulling one back. Boasting a host of talented youngsters, DBO were able to keep better possession throughout the game and Godfrey in the defense was as reliable as ever to thwart any attacks made by UGC. Agnelo of Don Bosco Oratory was declared man of the match and the award was presented to him by Majeed of Soccer Kerala. The officials were Victor Andrade and he was supported by Robert and Sameer on the lines.

Man of the match Britto Pereira ensured Goa Maroons remained the only team in the league with a clean slate when they beat Skynet Miracles SC 2-0. Both the Maroons goals came from penalties, one in either half and executed perfectly by Steven Rodrigues. Skynet Miracles SC with a host of top class players including the crafty Ben, Shine, Diago and new signing Michael Pereira in the goal did make sporadic attacks but either wayward shooting or some fine saves by Britto in the Maroons goal ensured Maroons full points. Ricky Sebastian playing his first match this season combined well with Vishal and Jeffrey up front and as usual Steven Correia, Conrad and veterans Tiago and Jaime supported them well. The obvious choice for man of the match was Britto Pereira of Goa Maroons and he received the award from Abdulla Kadri. The game was officiated by Dylan and he was assisted by Leslie and Clarence on the lines.

In a hard fought third match, Santos United found themselves three goals down within a spate of 20 minutes, largely due to poor defending and it looked like the game would easily end in Indian Strikers favor. The ever dangerous Haris scored two while Joosapilla got one for his team. However, credit must be given to Santos United for picking themselves up and fighting back with Denzil and the crafty Clinton Fernandes getting two goals back for their team. Referee Edwardo had to keep good control of the game as Santos United went for the equalizer with all guns blazing, however Indian Strikers held on to collect their first points in the league. Referee Eduardo Dias was assisted on the lines by Nameer and Rosario. Man of the match was Joosapilla Cletus of Indian Strikers and he received the award from Bosco.

In the final match of a very hot day, Curtorcares United overcame DHL FC 2-1 in a hard fought encounter with both teams playing some excellent soccer. Curtorcares took an early lead when Brazileo Rego volleyed home from just outside the penalty area and Myron Fernandes made it 2-0 from a beautifully executed free kick. DHL FC who had so far won both their earlier games gave it their all to find the equalizers with Roland feeding Seby and Abdul, who finally managed to pull one back. Man of the match was Mayron Fernandes and he received the award from Salvodar Dias The centre referee was Derrick Gomindes and he was supported by Agnelo and George on the lines.

The KIFF Managing Committee has appealed to all teams to report on time, especially the team playing the first match, which must begin on the scheduled time.
