Ghazali Bridge demolition put on hold

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: With the aim of easing the traffic congestion that resulted from the closing of Ghazali Bridge, Assistant Undersecretary for Road Affairs at Ministry of Public Works Eng Ahmad Al-Hassan declared that the Airport Bridge towards Shuwaikh Port will be opened within two weeks and a new detour road, which is part of the Jamal Abdul Nasser Road Project, will be opened soon, reports Arab Times daily.

Al-Hassan said this step will contribute in easing the traffic congestion experienced on Ghazali Road, indicating that Ministry of Public Works is planning to open new detour roads in the next phase. Meanwhile, Al-Shahed daily, quoting a source, reported that many vehicles sustained damages over the last few years because of cement that fell from Ghazali Bridge.

The source revealed that the concerned officials have agreed to postpone the removal of the bridge due to its importance, as it connects Rehab, Omariya, Farwaniya, Al-Rai and Shuwaikh Industrial Area as well as hospitals, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Education and institutes of Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.
