LOS ANGELES, Nov 7, (Agencies): Elton John, the music icon at 76, made a remarkable appearance at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center to honor his close friend and long-time songwriting collaborator, Bernie Taupin, during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

In an enthralling moment, John revealed that he and Taupin, who have shared a musical journey spanning over five decades, had recently wrapped up work on a brand-new album. While addressing the audience, captured in fan-recorded footage, John shared the thrilling news and couldn’t help but make a playful reference to his use of colorful language. He said, “We’ve just completed an album in Los Angeles, which is going to amaze you,” followed by a light-hearted comment about his choice of words.

John went on to express his enthusiasm for the forthcoming album, describing it as “absolutely wonderful, full of youth, and brimming with vitality.” He acknowledged the sense of wonder in creating music together after a remarkable 56 years of collaboration.

Concluding his speech, John paid a heartfelt tribute to Taupin, hailing him as “one of the finest lyric writers of all time.” He shared how singing Taupin’s songs continually revealed new layers of meaning, underlining the enduring trust and friendship they’ve nurtured over the years.

Bernie Taupin, 73, who has co-authored many of John’s greatest hits like “Rocket Man,” “Honky Cat,” “Crocodile Rock,” and “Daniel,” had earlier hinted at their new project when discussing his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in May. He teased, “We’ve got some plans laid out that can’t be revealed just yet.”

In September, Taupin reaffirmed their creative partnership, confirming that he and John would “definitely make another record.” He emphasized that even though John wasn’t touring, he remained actively engaged in various creative endeavors, ensuring that their musical journey continued to evolve.
