Gender impersonation in Kuwait faces KD 3,000 fine, 2 years jail

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 3: MPs Fahd Falah Bin Jame’e, Falah Al-Hajri, Hamad Al-Matar, Osama Al-Shaheen and Hamdan Al-Azmi have submitted a bill to toughen penalties on whoever acts like the opposite gender. According to the bill, those convicted will be imprisoned for two years maximum and fined KD3,000 maximum. In case the convict occupies a public sector job, the punishment is tougher – maximum of three years imprisonment and a fine ranging from KD3,000 to KD7,000. In all cases, those convicted are obligated to remove all signs of acting or behaving like the opposite gender.
