ABU DHABI, Jun 27: Gulf and Arab countries have strongly condemned an Iranian drone attack targeting Bahrain, describing it as a violation of the kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to regional security and stability.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) led the condemnation, with Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi denouncing the attack and saying the drones targeted civilian facilities and critical infrastructure.

Albudaiwi said the strikes came at a time when regional and international efforts were focused on reducing tensions and strengthening peace and security. He accused Iran of undermining those efforts and escalating the crisis.

He reaffirmed the GCC’s full support for all measures taken by Bahrain to defend its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The United Arab Emirates also condemned the Iranian drone attack, calling it a “flagrant violation” of Bahrain’s sovereignty and a direct threat to its security and stability.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed complete solidarity with Bahrain and backed all measures taken by Manama to protect the kingdom and its people.

The Qatar condemned the attack as a clear breach of Bahrain’s sovereignty and international law, urging continued diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.

Doha called for restraint, dialogue and the continuation of regional de-escalation efforts to preserve security and stability across the Gulf.

The Egypt and Jordan also joined the condemnation, warning that the attack could undermine efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region.

Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the drone strike represented a violation of Bahrain’s sovereignty and threatened ongoing efforts to restore calm and strengthen regional peace.

Jordan said the attack was a breach of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, reaffirming its support for Bahrain’s right to protect its security and territorial integrity.

The wave of condemnations came amid heightened regional tensions, with Gulf states warning that attacks on civilian targets and critical infrastructure risk further destabilizing an already fragile security environment.
