Bid to achieve economic integration

KUWAIT CITY, June 20, (KUNA): Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) hosted on Thursday the 51st Meeting of the GCC Council of Chambers Union with participation of delegations from all chambers and their federations.

During the meeting, the head of KCCI Ali Al-Ghanim stressed the important role played by the private sector in the GCC countries which he described as “historic national responsibility to unite the GCC countries.”

The meeting was chaired by the First Vice-President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, Sami Al-Obaidi. In this regard, Al-Ghanim expressed “concern over the passing crisis in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which put the private sector before a historical responsibility.” The meeting discussed several topics on its agenda related to strengthening the role of the private sector. “Established in 1979 and based in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Federation of GCC Chambers aims to achieve economic integration among the GCC countries”.

The Union, which was established by the GCC private sector, represented by the chambers of commerce and industry of the GCC countries, works to overcome the obstacles of trade exchange between the countries of cooperation and to establish a promising investment environment by creating strategic partnerships with Gulf, Arab, Islamic and international institutions and organizations.
