GCC condemns Houthi missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities

RIYADH, Sept 26: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Saturday condemned ballistic missile and drone attacks launched by Yemen’s Houthis toward the Saudi cities of Riyadh and Khamis Mushait.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the attacks as a “perilous escalation,” saying they constituted a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and posed an immediate threat to civilian safety and regional stability.

Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s support for Saudi Arabia and its right to take all necessary measures to protect its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also urged the international community to take a “decisive stance” and hold the Houthis accountable for their actions.

Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said Saudi air defenses had intercepted two ballistic missiles and two drones launched by the Houthi group toward Saudi Arabia.
