RIYADH, July 14: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Tuesday strongly condemned the reported Iranian attack on two UAE oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a hostile act and a flagrant violation of international law and the principle of freedom of navigation.
In a statement, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi denounced the attack on the tankers Mombasa B and Al Bahyah, warning that such actions threaten maritime security and regional stability.
Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC's full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and reiterated the bloc's support for all measures taken by Abu Dhabi to safeguard its security and protect its national interests.
The statement also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of international shipping lanes and maintaining stability in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
