NEW DELHI, Sep 18: Ambassadors of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries accredited to India held a meeting on Thursday at the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in New Delhi to discuss strengthening relations with India and coordinating positions that advance the shared interests of GCC member states.
The meeting was convened at the invitation of the Kuwait Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shamali, who currently chairs the GCC Council of Ambassadors. In his statement following the talks, Ambassador Al-Shamali underlined the importance of ongoing consultation and collective diplomatic efforts to further deepen GCC–India relations and broaden cooperation in line with the future aspirations of the Gulf states.
The Council of Ambassadors also issued a strong condemnation of the recent Israeli aggression and the violation of Qatari sovereignty, expressing full solidarity with the State of Qatar and affirming support for all measures taken by Doha to confront the attack.
Ambassador Al-Shamali added that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on regional developments, emphasizing the need for unified Gulf action in navigating a sensitive regional and international environment. He stressed that close coordination and a united stance are essential to safeguarding stability, prosperity, and the long-term interests of the GCC and its people.
The discussions also addressed a range of pressing issues, including trade cooperation with India, regional tensions arising from ongoing conflicts, and the importance of ensuring secure and sustainable energy supplies. The ambassadors agreed on the necessity of continuing regular consultations to monitor evolving developments and coordinate responses on matters of mutual concern.
Attendees included Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdulrahman Al-Qaoud, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman Issa Al-Shaibani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar Mohammed Al-Jaber, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Al-Ahmari, and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates Majed Al-Nakhilaoui.
This was the third meeting of the GCC diplomatic group under Kuwait’s chairmanship of the Council of Ambassadors, held as part of the framework of regular consultations among GCC envoys in India. The initiative aims to strengthen diplomatic coordination, advance common objectives with New Delhi, and reinforce the spirit of Gulf solidarity in addressing shared challenges.
