KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Former MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei has handed himself over to Ministry of Interior to serve the jail term of three years and six months in the case of “storming the National Assembly building”, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Few days ago, the former lawmaker said, “I hope an amnesty will be issued by His Highness the Amir in the case of storming the National Assembly building. I will abide by the amnesty requirements. We will have a meeting after the release”.

He added, “There is no doubt that my colleagues abroad are reformers. I expect arrangements for their return soon. They did not offend their homeland, and all of them are loyal to this country”.

Al-Tabtabaei continued, “I am a lecturer at the university and I hope to return to teaching. My political work and my experiences are enough and I will leave the field to others.” The former lawmaker also faces another case in court which was filed by his divorced wife. In that case, he was sentenced in absentia to seven-year imprisonment with hard labor.
