Star-studded cast announced for Disney+ treasure hunt series.

LOS ANGELES, April 15: Disney has officially greenlit production for the Korean webtoon adaptation “Low Life.” The series delves into the high-stakes world of treasure hunting off the Korean coast, where a valuable discovery sets off a frenzy among treasure seekers.

Inspired by real-life events and penned by acclaimed writer Yoon Tae-ho, “Low Life” originated as a webtoon published by Kakao between 2014 and 2015. Drawing from the discovery of a 14th-century Chinese ship in 1975 off the coast of Shinan, South Korea, the series promises an enthralling narrative rooted in history.

Helming the adaptation are writers Kang Yoon-sung and Ahn Seung-hwan, with Kang also stepping into the director’s role. With a track record that includes directing Disney+’s “Big Bet” and “The Outlaws,” Kang brings a wealth of experience to the project.

Leading the cast are esteemed actors Ryu Seung Ryong, Yang Se-jong, and Lim So-jung, supported by a talented ensemble that includes Kim Eui-sung, Kim Sung-oh, and Hong Ki-joon, among others.

Produced by SLL, Playgram, Four Entertainment, Heungbu Nebak Cine, and Yworks Entertainment for Disney, “Low Life” is slated for completion in 2025. While details regarding the number of episodes remain under wraps, the series is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the US, promising viewers an immersive and thrilling adventure.
