KUWAIT CITY, May 31: Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh detectives under the Farwaniya police command arrested an Indian woman for practicing medicine without a license at an unlicensed clinic in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior disclosed that this is part of its ongoing efforts to combat negative phenomena and preserve the health and safety of society. It stated that the Farwaniya Investigations Department - Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Investigations Section in the Criminal Security Sector conducted the arrest operation.
The ministry added, “It was found that the suspect was practicing medicine in violation of the law, and was arrested while examining a child, although her registered profession is ‘housewife’. A thorough search of the clinic led to the discovery of an undisclosed quantity of various medications, a blood pressure monitor, a stethoscope, and infant formula designated for distribution by the Ministry of Health. It was also found that she was preparing ‘folk remedies’ in the form of capsules and dispensing them to patients without any medical supervision.
During the investigation, she admitted that she practiced medicine without obtaining a scientific qualification or a license from the relevant authorities and that she imported some of her medications and purchased the rest from local pharmacies. She was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. A security source told the newspaper that the fake doctor provides medical care to expatriates who violated Residency and Labor laws, because they cannot access government hospitals. The source added that she provided treatment to patients in exchange for a small amount of money.
