KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Kuwait on Monday for official talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Sunday.
Macron will be accompanied by an official delegation during the visit, which comes as Kuwait and France celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
The visit will be Macron’s first to Kuwait since becoming president of France and the first visit by a French president to the country since Nicolas Sarkozy travelled to Kuwait in February 2009.
The upcoming visit follows His Highness the Amir’s trip to France in July 2025, when he held talks with Macron in Paris and invited the French president to visit Kuwait in 2026 to mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
During the Paris talks, the two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in several key areas, including defence, investment, energy and culture.
Macron’s visit is expected to provide an opportunity to build on the existing partnership and advance cooperation between Kuwait and France across areas of mutual interest.
