French envoy decorates Kuwait professor with Academic Palms

Dr. Kamel Rouibah presented the Order of Academic Palms with the rank of Knight

KUWAIT CITY, April 16: Ambassador of the French Republic to Kuwait Olivier Gauvin presented the Order of Academic Palms with the rank of Knight to Professor Dr. Kamel Rouibah during an official ceremony with several academicians in attendance. Gauvin disclosed that the Order of Academic Palms is one of the prestigious French decorations, established in 1808 at the initiative of Napoleon Bonaparte, to honor those who excelled in education, scientific research and knowledge dissemination. He praised the outstanding academic and scientific contributions of Rouibah, indicating that his career is a combination of high-level scientific training and international experience. Rouibah studied in Algeria before pursuing postgraduate studies in France, where he earned his masteral and doctorate degrees in Information Systems.

Gauvin commended Rouibah’s research contributions, which resulted in more than 80 scientific papers published in prestigious international journals, in addition to his participation in European research projects and his contributions to business intelligence, digital technologies and human-machine interaction. He also praised Rouibah’s more than two decades of service at Kuwait University and its students, his role in developing generations of talent, his contribution to the advancement of scientific research in information systems, and his role in building cooperation bridges between academic institutions in Kuwait and France. He highlighted the role of Rouibah in supporting student exchange programs between the two countries and facilitating the access of Kuwaiti students to scholarships in France despite the challenges, which opened new academic horizons for them. He affirmed that this recognition is in line with the commitment of France to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation with Kuwait, particularly in digital transformation and innovation, while underscoring the importance of academic expertise in supporting development initiatives.
