French Embassy Issues Detailed Travel Guidance for Nationals in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 6: The French Embassy in Kuwait has issued comprehensive guidance for French citizens in Kuwait, urging them to strictly adhere to instructions from Kuwait authorities and seek shelter amid ongoing safety concerns. The Embassy stressed that any decision to travel is at one’s own risk and should be based on careful assessment of safety conditions.

For those considering leaving Kuwait by road, the Al Salmi and Al Nuwaisib border crossings into Saudi Arabia are currently open. Travelers are advised to verify that the route is passable and the border is operational before departure. Entry into Saudi Arabia requires a valid visa, which can be obtained online within a few hours at https://visa.visitsaudi.com/ or at the border, with payment by credit card only. Visa fees are approximately €100, and waiting times at the border may be significant. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of travel.

The Embassy provided an indicative list of 13 transport providers offering land travel between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia:

  • Bahrainhamat – +9733360 9684
  • Sawah Travels – +9651811 911
  • Taxi Fayez (Arabic-speaking) – +9659942 0924

  • Unique Travel Agency – +9659794 8992

The Embassy emphasized that it cannot be held responsible for services provided by these individuals or companies, and the list is for informational purposes only. Travelers should confirm that the service provides end-to-end travel to their final Saudi destination, not just to the Kuwaiti-Saudi border. Crossing on foot is not permitted.

The Embassy also recommended booking onward flights from Saudi Arabia before leaving Kuwait and verifying flight status due to the possibility of cancellations. Travelers are advised to carry sufficient water, food, and any necessary medication for the journey. Vehicles used for travel must be fully owned and registered in the traveler’s name, while tour operators, taxis, and bus companies can provide full border crossing services.
