France increases security measures in response to Moscow shootings.

FRANCE, March 25: In response to the recent shootings in Moscow, the French government has elevated its terror alert warning to the highest level, announced Prime Minister Gabriel Attal on Sunday. This decision comes after a meeting with senior security and defense officials, alongside President Emmanuel Macron.

Attal communicated the decision via a post on social media platform X, stating that the move was made “in light of the Islamic State’s claiming responsibility for the (Moscow) attack and the threats weighing on our country.”

France’s terror alert system consists of three levels, with the highest level activated following an attack within France or abroad, or when there is deemed to be an imminent threat. This heightened alert status permits the implementation of exceptional security measures, including increased patrols by armed forces in public areas such as train stations, airports, and religious sites.

The timing of this decision is significant, occurring just months before Paris is set to host the Olympic Games. French authorities are taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and security of the nation amid ongoing security concerns.
