Four-Year Prison Term Upheld in Kuwait Hashish Possession Case

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: The Kuwait court upheld the ruling of a lower court that sentenced an artistic work producer to four years in prison with hard labor for the possession of hashish for personal consumption, while it refrained from sentencing another defendant, a television director, obligating the latter to post KD300 bail and sign a pledge of good conduct for two years.

The prosecution presented facts regarding the case, indicating that the defendants were apprehended when officers from the Drug Control General Department raided the house of one of them. Narcotics were found in their possession and the drug test results confirmed their consumption of the substance. The Criminal Court previously sentenced the producer to four years in prison and fined him KD500, while refraining from punishing the director. This decision was upheld by the Court of Appeals.
