Four Indians Arrested Over Running Illegal Liquor Factory in Jahra

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 9: Kuwait’s Criminal Security Affairs Sector has arrested four Indian nationals accused of using a livestock pen in a desert area along Abdali Road to manufacture, store and sell locally made liquor.

The General Department of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Jahra Governorate Investigation Department, launched an investigation after receiving information about the suspected illegal activity. Investigators identified the livestock pen being used as a base for the production and storage of the liquor.

Security personnel raided the site and caught three suspects while they were allegedly manufacturing the liquor. A fourth suspect was arrested after arriving at the pen to purchase a quantity of the locally made liquor for resale.

A search of the site resulted in the seizure of 236 plastic bottles filled with locally made liquor and ready for sale, along with a large quantity of barrels and raw materials used in the manufacturing process. A sum of money was also seized.

During questioning, the three suspects admitted to using the site for the clandestine manufacture, storage and sale of locally made liquor, while the fourth admitted to purchasing the liquor and reselling it.

Investigators also found that three of the four suspects were wanted on arrest warrants, including one wanted in connection with a fraud case.

Legal procedures were initiated against the suspects, while coordination was carried out with Kuwait Municipality to remove the illegal site, the Ministry of Interior said.
