Four-Day Security Sweep Nets 76 Residency Law Violators in Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, June 9: The General Traffic Department recorded 19,788 traffic violations during campaigns in different governorates on June 4-7, as part of its ongoing efforts to guarantee traffic safety, apprehend violators and strictly enforce the law. The department revealed that these campaigns also resulted in 2,775 traffic reports, detention of 23 individuals for committing grave violations, arrest of 40 wanted persons, 76 Residency Law violators and six individuals who failed to present valid identification documents, and impoundment of 17 wanted vehicles. It added that 13 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution and one person in an abnormal condition was referred to the concerned authorities for legal action. Regarding accidents, the department said it dealt with 986 traffic accidents and 178 collisions resulting in injuries, while 251 vehicles and 40 motorcycles were impounded. It affirmed the continuation of security and traffic campaigns throughout the country, as well as taking legal measures against violators, to instill traffic discipline and ensure the safety of road users.
