DAMASCUS, Aug 18: Israeli warplanes carried out four airstrikes on the abandoned Abu al-Duhur military airport in the eastern countryside of Idlib province in northern Syria, according to local sources.

The strikes reportedly took place at around 3 a.m. local time on Tuesday. There were no immediate reports of casualties following the attacks.

Syrian authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reported strikes or their targets.

The attacks come amid continued Israeli military operations inside Syria following the fall of the Assad regime. Israel has expanded its strikes against Syrian military infrastructure, including weapons and missile storage facilities and other strategic sites.

Israel has previously carried out numerous strikes in Syria targeting Iranian forces and positions linked to Hezbollah, citing security concerns and efforts to prevent the transfer or deployment of weapons in the region.
