Former MP Saleh Ashour Sentenced to Three Years in Embezzlement Case

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 21: The Court of Cassation’s First Criminal Circuit has overturned acquittals previously issued in favor of former MP Saleh Ashour and another defendant in a case involving embezzlement and misappropriation of funds.

The case relates to a report submitted by the Ministry of Social Affairs concerning donation funds belonging to Al-Thaqalayn Association.

The Public Prosecution had appealed the earlier acquittal verdicts, requesting that the Court of Cassation review the ruling.

After examining the appeal, the court ruled to convict the defendants and sentenced them to three years in prison with hard labor .
