TOKYO, Dec 9, (Xinhua): A forest fire broke out Tuesday on Mount Hyuga in the Japanese prefecture of Kanagawa, local media reported. According to police and fire departments, a series of emergency calls were received just after 3 pm local time from witnesses reporting smoke from the mountain, which is located on the border between Atsugi and Isehara cities in Kanagawa Prefecture, TBS Television reported.
The forest fire is near the summit of Mount Hyuga and is still spreading, but no injuries have been reported. Firefighting efforts are expected to take some time as roads around the site are not well maintained, the report said.
