KUWAIT CITY, Aug 14, (KUNA): Human remains Kuwait has received from Iraq purportedly belonging to citizens who had gone missing or held as prisoners of war need both time and effort for thorough examination, said an official on Wednesday.
The Kuwaiti Interior Ministry’s Acting Undersecretary Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah’s remarks came amid his visit to the ministry’s forensic laboratory, where he got a close-up view of the DNA analysis used to identify the remains, according to a ministry statement.
Iraqi authorities last week handed over to Kuwait the remains of 48 of its citizens who went missing after Iraq’s invasion of its neighbor and subsequent Gulf War 29 years ago.
