Dakar, Jan 9: Former Liverpool striker Sadio Mane has tied the knot with his 18-year-old girlfriend, Aisha Tamba, in a private ceremony held in his homeland, Senegal. The wedding reportedly occurred on January 7 in Keur Massar, a locality in the capital city of Dakar, just six days ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations starting on January 13.

Family, friends, and fellow footballers were said to have attended the intimate event. Reports suggest that Aisha has been associated with the 31-year-old footballer since her teenage years, though the exact duration of their relationship remains undisclosed. It’s worth noting that the legal age of consent in Senegal is 16 years.

Pulse Sports reported that Mane had supported Aisha financially during her school years. Both Mane and Aisha share the same religion, Islam, and are described as private individuals. Official wedding photos shared on @SMane_Officiel on X social media feature the couple with the caption ‘thanks to God’ in Arabic.

Aisha is seen in wedding photos wearing an intricate, fitted, lacey mermaid-style dress with long sleeves and a silky veil. She later changed into a silk white top and skirt combo, accessorized with a chunky gold necklace and earrings. The groom, Mane, is dressed in traditional Senegalese attire.

Throughout his time at Liverpool, Mane had kept his relationships private. In 2022, he spoke about his ideal partner, expressing a preference for someone who respects God and prays sincerely, emphasizing his desire for a private life. Mane reportedly first noticed Aisha when she was 16 but did not formally approach her at that time. Instead, he conveyed his intentions through his uncle, a friend of the family, leading to their eventual union.
