‘Foolproof security for judges’

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19: In the midst of ongoing investigations and collection of evidence to arrest those who set fire to the premises of the house of Cassation Court‘s Judge Sultan Bouresli recently, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Faleh Al-Raqba has confirmed providing all forms of support and assistance to members of the judicial authority and their families, reports Al-Qabas daily. In a statement to the daily, Al-Raqba stressed that his ministry spares no effort in protecting judges and their families.

“Since the arson, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has been keen on ensuring protection for Bouresli and his family, while stressing the need for immediate arrest of the suspects. First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled contacted us immediately after the incident; affirming his commitment to intensify efforts to arrest the perpetrators, provide protection for Bouresli and his honorable family, and assign patrol and security officers around his home. Undersecretary Anwar Al-Barjas also confirmed his keenness to deploy the officers soon after the incident,” he revealed. He went on to say that full protection was provided to Bouresli during the Army Fund case trial at the Justice Palace on Sunday.

He asserted that arson in the house of a judge is an isolated case, but it must be dealt with properly to ensure justice is served. He added those who committed the crime must be arrested and the most severe penalties should be imposed on them. He reiterated that the Ministry of Interior spares no effort in arresting the perpetrators: stressing the law is applied to everyone as Kuwait is a State of law, justice, and institutions. In addition, the Ministry of Interior continues to exert tremendous efforts to arrest two unknown persons who were seen setting fire to the house of Bouresli. A reliable source told the daily that two unknown people poured gasoline into the vehicle of Bouresli and the fence of his house, set fire to them, and then fled from the scene. The source said the results of preliminary investigations indicate some people planned this crime as the suspects were seen monitoring the area for days. He added the arsonists carried out the crime in the wee hours of the morning to ensure the place was deserted, however, a passerby saw two masked individuals and prevented them from completing their crime
