Pakistan Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Zafar Iqbal led the talks with KCCI
KUWAIT CITY, April 21: The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) held a video conference on Tuesday, April 21 with a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, headed by the Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zafar Iqbal. According to a press release issued by KCCI, the meeting, initiated by the Pakistani side, aimed to express solidarity and cooperation with Kuwait and to ensure the continued availability of essential food supplies in light of the current circumstances in the region due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. KCCI welcomed the Pakistani delegation, emphasizing the deep-rooted economic relations between Kuwait and Islamabad, which reflect decades of cooperation and strong trade ties.
KCCI expressed its appreciation for the Pakistani Embassy’s initiative to enhance cooperation in the food supply sector. The initiative includes providing information on Pakistani exporters and organizing meetings with representatives of the Kuwaiti private sector to strengthen trade relations and explore further trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. KCCI affirmed its readiness to coordinate with the relevant authorities and stakeholders in Pakistan to facilitate this cooperation and support arrangements that contribute to the efficient fl ow of essential food supplies. Meanwhile, Ambassador Dr. Iqbal thanked KCCI for its continued cooperation and for organizing the event, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts during this period, particularly in the food and basic commodities sector.
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry stated that Pakistan has an abundance of food products such as rice, vegetables, and fruits, and expressed its readiness to cooperate with Kuwait to secure the necessary supplies and its hope for long-term trade relations. The meeting included a presentation by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) on the food and agricultural sector, highlighting the high quality, competitively priced products available in Pakistan, including meat, fish, rice, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products. A visual presentation was also given by Jazeera Airways, which currently operates cargo flights in addition to a limited number of passenger flights through Dammam Airport in Saudi Arabia.
