KUWAIT CITY, June 25: Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs Dr. Reem Al-Fulaij discussed on Thursday with Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kuwait Yerzhan Yelekeyev ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in food security as one of the key pillars of sustainable development. In a statement for KUNA, Al- Fulaij said that the two sides reviewed opportunities to develop a partnership and exchange expertise and successful experiences in a manner that supports food systems and enhances their sustainability.
She pointed out that the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Environment Public Authority (EPA), also discussed mechanisms for cooperation in agricultural production and food supply chains to ensure food stability and availability. Al-Fulaij added that a number of issues of mutual interest related to strengthening food security were also addressed, supporting the national efforts of both countries and contributing to the achievement of their development goals and long-term food sustainability. Meanwhile , Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Affairs Dr. Reem Al-Fulaij on Thursday has directed affiliated authorities establish an integrated national database that supports decision- making and enhances environmental transparency and disclosure. This came in a statement for KUNA after her meeting with senior officials from authorities under her supervision, namely the Environment Public Authority (EPA), the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, and the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, to discuss the launch of the pilot phase of the government sustainability reporting system. Al-Fulaij affirmed that the initiative would strengthen governance and environmental performance measurement in line with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards, support the State’s efforts to develop environmental sustainability indicators and improve Kuwait’s standing in relevant international indices and reports. She pointed out that the system would also enable the measurement of the actual impact of environmental initiatives and projects, positively reflecting on the efficiency of natural resource management and improving environmental quality in Kuwait.(KUNA)
