KUWAIT CITY, Nov 22: Al-Qasr detectives have apprehended five suspects of Asian nationalities and one Bedoun (Stateless) in connection with the embezzlement of subsidized food supplies from a distribution branch in Al-Jahra Governorate. All six individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution to face legal proceedings.

A security source revealed that the investigation began after authorities received information suggesting that several employees at the branch were diverting part of the beneficiaries’ rations, particularly rice and lentils, for personal gain.

Acting on the tip-off, a specialized detective team was assembled to verify the allegations. The team collected the subsidized food supplies, carefully measured the quantities, and compared them against the official records of what was supposed to be distributed to beneficiaries.

The source confirmed that the investigation revealed a deliberate shortage in the delivered rations, prompting authorities to set up a well-planned ambush that led to the suspects’ arrest. The case has now been formally handed over to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.
