Five Workers Killed, 10 Injured in Boiler Explosion at Pharma Factory in India

AMARAVATI, Oct 3: At least five workers were killed and 10 others seriously injured after a boiler exploded at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Sri City, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday, according to local reports.

The blast occurred at TIL Healthcare, a pharmaceutical company located inside the Sri City Special Economic Zone, triggering a fire and prompting police, fire and emergency teams to rush to the facility. The injured workers were evacuated and taken to hospitals for treatment. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, with a possible technical fault in the boiler among the factors being examined.

Initial reports put the death toll at four, but the number later rose to five, with one critically injured worker reportedly dying while undergoing treatment. Three of the victims were identified as Gourab Roy, 35, Chinna Mastan, 36, and Ramesh, 40, according to local reports.

Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh expressed grief over the deaths and directed officials to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical treatment. The government also assured support to the families of those killed. The exact circumstances of the blast and the final condition of the injured remain under investigation.
