Five ministers to resign

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah is reported to have been indicating plan to reshuffl e the cabinet such that four portfolios may be changed and two to three rotated.

According to sources, the Prime Minister is set to accept resignation of four ministers today, Monday. Those expected to submit their resignation include the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipality Affairs Hosam Al-Roumi (already announced when the country experienced rainstorm at the beginning of the winter), Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Bakhit Al-Rashidi, Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Adel Al-Khorafi, and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al- Sabeeh.

It was gathered that two other ministers have informed the Prime Minister that they are no longer willing to continue in their positions. The sources declared that fate of the Minister of State for Housing and Services Affairs Dr. Jenan Bushahri remains unclear, so it is not sure whether she will be retained or not. They revealed that there are two scenarios concerning the resignation.

The first scenario is that the resignation may be limited to the four ministers mentioned above or five if Bushahri decides to join them. The second scenario is likelihood of mass resignation to usher in total cabinet reshuffl ing.

In the same vein, the sources added that the Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalid Al-Roudhan and the Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri could switch portfolios within the first week of the new year.
