KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: The General Customs Administration issued new instructions to allow five local companies to import ready-mix concrete from abroad with the aim of meeting the local market’s need for this product in light of the great demand for it by companies and citizens alike, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.
They affirmed that the Director General of General Customs Administration Sulaiman Al-Fahad sent a circular regarding the issuance of licenses to import ready-mix concrete by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for these companies. The sources explained that the validity of these licenses extends to a year.
It was based on the decision issued by the Council of Ministers during its meeting No. 19/97 regarding regulating the import process, and provision of readymix concrete to meet the needs of the market, and obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry at the same time. The main goal behind issuing new import licenses for local ready-mix concrete companies is to meet the local market’s need for this product, maintain price balance, and limit its rise in light of the great demand that has caused the prices of all building and construction materials to rise during the past two years.
