KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: The Central Agency for Public Tenders has approved five bids to compete for a tender to supply, install and extend underground cables to feed two main transformer substations in Amghara Industrial Area and strengthen the electricity grid.

The agency will refer the five bids to the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy for a technical evaluation. The ministry has been given 30 days to prepare its study and recommendation before returning the bids to the agency for a decision on awarding the contract to the bidder that meets the required technical specifications.

The project is part of the ministry’s efforts to expand high- and extra-high-voltage electricity networks and meet the growing energy needs of the industrial sector and other areas.

Amghara Industrial Area has witnessed continued expansion in recent years, driven by an increase in the number of factories and industrial activities. This has contributed to rising electricity demand and increased the need for a reliable power supply.

The planned underground cable project is expected to help strengthen the electrical network in the area and support the continuity of electricity supplies as industrial activity continues to grow.
