KUWAIT CITY, May 12: The Environment Public Authority (EPA) has confirmed that fishing is strictly prohibited in the Al-Hayshan and Al-Rashdan areas, as marked in red on official maps, in accordance with environmental regulations and bylaws. This information contradicts claims circulating on some social media platforms, reports Al-Seyassah daily. EPA referred to Resolution No. 1079/2009 on the prohibition of recreational fishing, which stipulates that pleasure boats are not permitted to engage in fishing within three nautical miles of Kuwait’s coastline. The resolution also states that shore fishing is prohibited unless authorized through a permit or official notification issued by the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR). EPA urged the public to comply with environmental laws and regulations, and to verify information before sharing or publishing unofficial reports. It also emphasized that legal action will be taken against those who circulate false information.
