KUWAIT CITY, June 20: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced that recreational fishing boats and recreational vessels will be allowed to sail around the clock without restrictions starting Sunday, June 21, 2026, as part of efforts to regulate maritime activity and ensure the safety of sea users.
The ministry said the decision was taken after assessing the current situation and aims to allow marine enthusiasts to enjoy their activities during both daytime and nighttime while maintaining the security and safety of maritime navigation.
Authorities urged all boat owners and sea users to strictly follow designated sailing areas shown on approved maps and avoid approaching oil installations, vital facilities and restricted zones.
The ministry specifically warned against sailing in the area between the north and northeast of Failaka Island and the south of Bubiyan Island due to its importance for national security and maritime safety.
All vessels operating at sea are required to keep their Automatic Identification System (AIS) activated at all times, as the system plays a key role in maritime monitoring, tracking and emergency response.
The ministry also stated that individuals planning to enter Kuwait Bay, as well as owners of recreational fishing boats, must obtain a QR code from the Environment Public Authority through the “Sahl” application.
The General Directorate of Coast Guard will continue monitoring maritime activities around the clock, while authorities called on all sea users to comply with safety instructions and regulations to ensure secure navigation.
