Fishermen freed – ‘Shrimping’ charge

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: The Misdemeanor Court has nullified judgment issued in absentia against six fishermen who were fined KD500 each for shrimp fishing during the ban period. The court thereby acquitted them of all charges.

The case file indicated the Public Prosecution Department accused the defendants of violating stipulations concerning the activities of the boat “Sultani” used in fishing, and went on shrimp fishing at Kuwait’s regional waters during the ban season. The defendants pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the allegations.
