First Round of Four-Party Iran-US Talks Concludes in Switzerland

GENEVA, Jun 21: The first round of four-party talks involving Iran and the United States, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, has concluded in Switzerland, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday, citing a source familiar with the Iranian negotiating team.

According to the source, the meeting was suspended after around 80 minutes to allow the participating delegations to hold internal consultations. No immediate details were released on when the next session would begin.

Earlier, Qatar announced the start of US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland with the participation of Qatari and Pakistani mediators. The talks are aimed at discussing the implementation of an interim agreement between the two sides.

US and Iranian delegations arrived in Switzerland for technical negotiations under a memorandum of understanding signed on Wednesday, reportedly intended to end months of regional conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
