First day on life returning back to normal after total lockdown

KUWAIT CITY, May 31: On the first day after total ban was lifted with partial curfew relaxing between 6 am to 6 pm, the first stage of the return to gradual normalcy implemented the government, citizens and expats were seen on the streets from morning after a long break of 21 days.

The streets were seen with normal movement, except for some main streets that witnessed traffic congestion that Kuwait was not used to during these past days amid a security presence in various areas especially the isolated areas.

Number of citizens and expats took advantage of this period to go out to the beaches to break the routine while preferred some go to restaurants, shops and markets to buy their needs before the partial ban takes effect.

Groceries began receiving customers, while car wash stations were crowded with citizens and residents to wash their cars. So also auto repair shops were seen busy. People were seen at laundry shops maintaining social distancing.

Today, the process of sterilizing mosques began in cooperation between the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and the ministries concerned to reopen the mosques after a period of suspension of nearly 3 months, according to a fatwa issued by the ministry to suspend prayers in the gathering and groups in order to safeguard the health and safety of worshipers, citizens and expats.
