KUWAIT CITY, March 25: Firefighting teams in Kuwait, supported by units from the Kuwaiti Army, National Guard, and the oil sector, continue efforts to extinguish a fire that broke out in fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport after it was targeted by hostile drones early Wednesday.
Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Gharib, spokesperson for the Kuwait Fire Force, said during a media briefing that crews have already contained four separate fires in different locations caused by debris from intercepted missiles and drones.
He added that since the start of the escalation, firefighting teams have handled 82 unusual incidents linked to drone attacks and air defence interceptions, including fires, direct strikes, and operations to secure affected sites across the country.
Al-Gharib urged citizens and residents to exercise caution, avoid approaching debris or fire sites, and immediately report incidents via the emergency number 112, warning that such materials may contain highly flammable or hazardous substances.
Earlier, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation confirmed that a drone strike hit a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, causing the fire. Spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi stated that initial reports indicate the damage was limited to material losses, with no casualties recorded.
Officials reaffirmed that emergency teams remain on high alert, continuing their efforts to protect lives, property, and public safety., 2026 (KUNA)
