DOHA, Sep 9: A fire that broke out aboard a marine vessel at Al Wakrah Port in Qatar was brought under control on Wednesday, with no injuries reported, Qatar's Interior Ministry said.

Civil Defense teams responded to the incident and successfully contained the fire, the ministry said, without providing further details.

The cause of the fire, the type of vessel involved, and the extent of any damage were not disclosed immediately.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions across the Gulf region linked to escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, particularly over the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The latest developments follow a memorandum signed in June that envisaged an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as a step toward a broader peace deal.
