Fire destroys Sabhan beverage factory

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: One hundred and thirty firemen from the Sabhan, Al-Farwaniya, Mubarak Al-Kabir, Al-Salmiya, Al- Mangaf, Al-Sulaibikhat and Al-Hilali fire centers rushed to Sabhan after fire razed a beverage factory in the area, reports Al-Rai daily.

A statement issued by the Fire Services Directorate said the firemen exerted tremendous efforts to put out the fire and prevent it from causing further destruction. Seven firemen were injured. Two of them were rushed to the Farwaniya Hospital while the others were given first aid on the site of the incident. The firemen, who arrived within 5 minutes, were able to contain the fire.

There were fuel tanks as well as packing materials that helped fl ames to spread over approximately 4,000 square meters. The incident was followed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, while a number of senior officials from the Interior Ministry and the fire department visited the site of the fire.

In another incident, firemen acting on information rushed to the home of Kuwaiti in Al-Dhaher area and rescued the family members who were trapped inside. No casualties have been reported. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire in both incidents.
