KUWAIT CITY, July 18: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced Saturday that another power generation and water desalination facility was targeted in a hostile attack following what it described as the “heinous Iranian aggression” against the State of Kuwait, resulting in a fire at one of the plant’s components.

The ministry said the incident prompted authorities to take immediate precautionary operational measures, including disconnecting several generating units to ensure the safety of the facility and its employees and to maintain the stability of Kuwait’s electrical grid.

Emergency response teams from the ministry, in coordination with the General Fire Force and other concerned authorities, are currently working to contain the fire and address the damage.

The ministry confirmed that all emergency and operational plans were activated immediately after the incident to ensure the continued stability of electricity and water services and minimize any possible impact on consumers. Technical teams are maintaining round-the-clock monitoring of the electricity and water networks.

Calling on citizens and residents to support national efforts during the exceptional circumstances, the ministry urged the public to reduce electricity consumption, particularly during peak demand hours between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm.

It said lowering consumption during peak periods would help ease pressure on the national power grid and assist technical teams in carrying out repair work and restoring full operational capacity as quickly as possible.

The ministry stressed that it would continue providing updates through its official communication channels and urged the public to rely only on verified sources of information, warning against spreading unconfirmed reports or rumors.
