KUWAIT CITY, Apr 8: The spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity and Water, Engineer Jassem Al-Nouri, said that a main electricity substation in Hawally region (Hawally B) caught fire in the feeder cell of transformer No1.which led to outage of electricity in the block.

Immediately the fire brigades and emergency teams of the ministry went and did the necessary work where the fire was extinguished, the damaged transformer was isolated and the current was restored to the station 7.10 pm.

He stated that the Acting Minister of Oil and Electricity and Water Minister Dr. Khaled Al-Fadil and a number of the Ministry’s heads were present at the site as soon as the information was received in order to follow the work progress and immediately return the current to the station.

The fire did not cause any damage to human life but some limited material losse, the station was being examined to find out the reasons that led to the fire.
